Pope Kyrillos the Sixth Coptic Orthodox Church was established by the grace of God in September 2023, under the auspices of His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef and His Grace Bishop Gregory of the Coptic Orthodox Metropolis of the Southern United States, to serve the growing Coptic Christian community in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and the broader Southern United States. Fr. Victor Shahat was entrusted with the spiritual leadership of the congregation shortly after its announcement. Services commenced in November 2023 in a rented facility in the DFW area, where the faithful gathered for Holy Liturgies and Sunday School, while servants, congregation members, and a founding board committee began prayerful planning toward securing a permanent home. In September 2024, by the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef and His Grace Bishop Gregory, Fr. Victor and the board officially closed on a property in North Richland Hills, Texas — a 4.5-acre site with an existing building of approximately 87,000 square feet, acquired for $3.65 million. The first Holy Liturgy in the new building was celebrated on the morning of September 13th, 2024. The church complex is envisioned to encompass a daycare, school, clinic, retreat center, and museum, offering a full range of spiritual and practical services to meet the needs of our families and neighbors. By the continued grace of God, the church holds Holy Liturgy every Sunday followed by Sunday School for all grade levels, and has joyfully hosted events such as the Mahragan sports competition and the Fr. Daoud Lamei DFW Texas Family Convention. We pray that our Lord continues to guide and multiply the work of this church under the intercession of our patron saint, Pope Kyrillos VI.
